Business Area (BA) Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other renewable activities such as solar PV and batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.
Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position as Environmental Specialist for our Swedish Market in the BA Wind. Tasks and responsibilities
As an Environmental Specialist you are part of the BA Wind and will work within the Environment & Sustainability Unit. In this role, you will give environmental support for our onshore and offshore assets during the operational phase.
You will support our assets to be managed in accordance with legal, permit and Vattenfall environmental requirements, and strive for operational excellence. You will co-ordinate with interdisciplinary teams and other Environmental and Sustainability Specialists working in Sweden and our other key markets, and deliver a structured and systematic approach to taking environmental and other essential sustainability aspects into account.
The Environmental Specialist will report to the Manager Environment & Sustainability Projects and Operations & Maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing Environmental Compliance
Review and approve contractor management and performance documentation;
Monitor and audit contractors to environmental standards and guidance at site level;
Report and evaluate all environmental events in an appropriate timescale and undertake environmental incident response, management and investigations if necessary or required; and
Report and engage with authorities.
Performance and improvement
Perform and conduct environmental drills;
Provide toolbox talks to contractors on a frequent basis regarding key environmental topics;
Perform environmental input in contracting and due diligence;
Manage and further develop systematic ways of working with environmental and sustainability topics; and
Coordination and assisting in the overall Environment and Sustainability strategy for BA Wind.
Working as a team
Work in close cooperation with the specific Health & Safety specialist and interdisciplinary site teams;
Interface of environmental and sustainability topics between different operating units;
Work together with other specialists inside and outside your own work area such as technical disciplines and environmental consultants; and
Work in close cooperation with the Environment and Sustainability Unit specialists & Bioscience experts
Your profile as an Environmental Specialist
As an Environmental Specialist you will be enthusiastic about environment and sustainability topics. You are good in your organizational, analytical and time management skills. Having a degree in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science is highly beneficial. The ideal candidate brings the following to the table:
You have relevant work experience in construction and/or operational control;
Knowledge and understanding of the renewables or wind industry and familiarity with environmental management systems;
You are an ambassador in your own area of technical environmental specialism and are actively aware of other environmental disciplines;
Understanding of Swedish licencing/permitting & consenting regimes and knowledge of the Swedish Legislation and Guidelines related to environment;
You are excited to take on new challenges such as other renewable technologies including hydrogen production;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are fluent in Swedish (written and spoken), are a Swedish resident and possess a good mastering of English;
Willingness to travel and have a full EU driving license.

The location of this position is Solna, in Sweden, with consideration given to flexible working arrangements. Regular business trips are required to project and site locations in Sweden, in addition to occasional trips to our core markets in which we operate.
